The Global Day of Prayer 2009 (Newham) “The Day the church of Newham came together to pray “
On Sunday 31st May 2009 the Global Day of Prayer Newham, took place at Trinity Chapel in Beckton with a programme which began with the youth leading the first hour in prayer and ministry. Which I think was quite profound.
For as long as I have known it growing up as a child, Children were to be seen and not heard. Yet in reading the Word of God, children were always raised up to lead in the way of Great Exploits with the elders providing , mentoring, prayer, counsel, protection, support and guidance. It has always been the youth who have by their strength and their zeal brought about change, brought about Worship, brought about revival by driving out the adversities, pulling down strongholds and raising up true Worship to the One and Only Living God, establishing Truth with Truth.
Think about Caleb, Joshua, Daniel, Joseph, Esther, Ruth, Elisha, Asa, and many more, Jesus himself having a profound effect on the elders at only 12yrs old.
So it was my delight to gather a few of our youth to come with the obvious anointing and call on their lives to lead us into prayer, worship and declaration putting a stake in the ground for Jesus and exercising our authority n the Spirit. The few who stood in the Gap influenced over 200 young people to join them in praying for change in their world. Pastor Jonathan Findlay, blessed our youth by stepping forward in representing ‘Fathers’ praying for sons and daughters of the Kingdom.
Youth Ministers who led the way forward were Tunday, Guvna B, Victizzle, Leke, Seyi & the Youth Worship team, and Rhona, Lyndsay Smith (The Youth Director of GDOP) addressed the young people and stirred their hearts to continue in prayer daring to believe God for change. It was a powerful beginning for the rest of the events in prayer which took place.
Below we have several photographs which capture some of the action on the night.
We are planning on holding several youth led prayer events throughout the year, if you would like to get involved contact me @ jacqui.john@transformnewham.com
